Division of Work
At our first meeting to draft our team charter, we each chose roles to focus on for the duration of the project. We wanted to leverage the strengths of each teammate and our preferences as well. The general roles were as follows:
Meeting Management: Lilia
Project Management: Lida & Yining
Final Deliverables: Tong & Nilsa
Based on the design of our project, it was quite simple to divide our work which can be seen in our table of contents. We divided the tools we discussed into four categories, therefore, 4/5 members selected a category to complete pages for and the remaining team member selected to work on the overview pages. Although each section had a different number of pages, we took the level of detail needed to effectively describe different tools into consideration. Thus, we believe that we were able to distribute the workload equally.
Our team dynamics allowed us to naturally leverage the unique strengths of each individual in the team. Lida was very skilled at maneuvering GitHub and RStudio, and Nilsa had ideas on how to improve the visual presentation of our book. They worked together to increase creativity and implementation. Lilia and Yining were very artistically skilled, so they created our team logo, design elements throughout the book, and chose savy presentation templates. Tong kept our team moving forward by being attentive to deadlines and finding ways to bring everyone’s ideas together.
